History Dick B.'s
A.A. Bible Resources
![]()
Early AAs took their basic ideas from the Bible. That was Dr. Bob's statement. Bill and Bob said that Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matthew chapter 5-7) contained the underlying philosophy of A.A. Dr. Bob gave particular emphasis to the Sermon, 1 Corinthians 13, and the Book of James, saying these were considered "absolutely essential." Dr. Bob's wife Anne said the Bible should be the "main source book of all." Bill Wilson pointed out that the Book of James was so popular that many favored calling our fellowship the "James Club."
